Transcend SSD18C3 1.8-Inch USB 3.0 128 GB External Solid State (TS128GSSD18C3)

The unit is small. It comes with 2 usb cables as noted by other reviewers, one thick, one slim. The two are connected. The onliune manual notes the two cables are needed for older usb ports that did not provide enough power. Since my computers are recent, less than 3 years old, I have used the SSD it in my desktop (Lenovo Thinkstation) and in my laptop (VAIO Z) with one cable only (the thick one), and the drive works flawlessly so far. There is a light around the "backup" button that turns brown if you are using usb 2, and blue when I connect to usb 3.0. The only issue for me is that the cable is bulky, but so far the ssd works very well.

I am using this to run a couple of development oriented virtual machines and it works great - they boot up and run much better than on my previous E-SATA drives. I will never be going back to a non SSD drive for this purpose. Only negative is that it does require 2 USB ports to run with full power according to the instructions. It runs with only one, but I don't believe it runs at full speed.
